David Bowie - Heroes (live) How a song makes the connection to a Place and Time

I was fortunate enough to see
Bowie back in 1983 on his 'Serious Moonlight Tour" in Toronto.
The concert was beyond amazing and his live performance

was so outstanding that it
felt at times was watching a Shakespearean play.

If given the right character
to play he would undoubtedly be magnificent.Maybe American Horror ;)

As for this song I posted, I
will always associate with a memorable event in my life that took
place in 1981 in Ottawa..

A movie night with work
friends from the British American Banknote turned into a nightmare
after leaving the cinema where we had just finished watching
'Christiane F' with Bowie's soundtrack 'Heroes'. Our van was stolen
that night but what really became the nightmare was later that
morning when my boyfriend ( my husband) and I received a call from
the Ottawa police informing us that our van was involved in a serious
crime which later discovered the crime committed was a drive by
shooting between two very prominent known gangs in the city. The
situation only worsened with the ongoing investigation and were
advised by RCMP to go into hiding for a few weeks until things
settled down.

It was like living a scary
movie . Anyway, to this day I still adore the song : )

All's well that ends well : )

BEWITCHING MOON

Bewitching Moon

Over the top of the mountains the moon
Rose unexpectedly
In the sky it drifted,
A bird, a fairy!
Blown out, round and sweet
Melon-like!
It danced in the sky
Impassioned
In the fragrant night,
Lighting every road,
Making my head swim,
My senses dazed.
Did I dream?
Did I really see you?
You fell into the well
Like the declining sun.
Moon, wink at me
Bright Moon, magic moon
The mirror of the loving girl,
Peep out at the balcony!

THE QUEEN started out as a wood burning in October 3/2008, seven years ago.
Unfortunately the wood piece no longer exists, I burned it : ) I did however take a picture.

Country Kitchen Chalkboard

Great Slate Chalkboard Paint by Disney/Glidden

and other supplies to try out for another project : )

the hardboard I used

It took me a few years to actually put this beautiful solid wood frame to use.
Early one morning while driving my daughter to school I passed the local Antique dealer in town and noticed a frame sticking out of his garbage bin. We were already running late so I didn't have the time to pull over and pick it up.
During the 15 minute drive to school I was hoping the garbage truck wasn't going to beat me to it. By the time I returned to town I could still see the picture frame sticking out of the garbage, no garbage truck had come and no one had bothered to stop, lucky me!
But when I went to pick the frame out of the garbage I got a double surprise, I found a beautiful Venetian mirror with gorgeous carved roses. Both finds had their imperfections. The frame had old mildew fabric edging I removed and the mirror had a wood rose missing which in time I plan to refurbish. Love discovering old discarded antiques especially freebies and turning them into something special and useful.

I painted the hardboard with three coats of the Disney Great Slate Chalkboard Paint and then framed it in the gorgeous Gold Antique Wood Frame I found in the trash and refurbished.
Now all I have to do is wait 7 days before I write on my Country Kitchen Chalkboard. I am thinking of painting something on it but not sure what. I do have a week to figure it out : )

Love my One of Kind Country Kitchen Chalkboard and I can't wait to write on it.
