That Magic Moment π«✨π⭐️π«
That Magic Moment π« when two little kitties showed up at our back door on my daughter's birthday back on October 27, 2017, a brother and sister team who I swear are a little witch and a tinner warlock in disguise. Lots of magic resides here now.
For the Happy Caturday group theme "Special Moments".

WITCHES' BROOM TREE WIP π§Ή OIL PAINTING
I love the trees!
I also love the illustrations and paintings of trees, particularly the ones done by 19th - century British artists.
The Witch Broom Tree in this painting was inspired by Emily Carr's gorgeous trees of British Columbia.
"In 1818 Constable exhibited a beautiful drawing of elm trees at the Royal Academy. It failed to sell and so it was still in Constable’s possession two decades later, when he added a note on the back to the effect that “This noble Elm … was blown down April 1835.” It was a portrait, in other words, of a particular tree, one whose fortunes he continued to follow, and whose eventual loss he lamented long after he’d moved away from the area." ~ Professor Christiana Payne
And like John Constable, I adore painting them. When I came upon a tree down the road from where I live that looked quite peculiar I took a few photos of the tree for future reference which would come in handy when I went to paint it. At the time I didn't know why the tree was afflicted with such unusual, odd-looking, broom-like distortions but after looking it up online I discovered it was disease trees get and not from witches : )
I suppose the namesake is because it reminds one of a spooky broom belonging to a witch. So I decided to paint the Witch Broom Tree in oil but it was my first time painting entirely in oil and I didn't realize just how long it takes for the painting to dry and cure. This painting is still very wet.
I added a couple of spiders and webs to the tree and eventually would like to add a black cat and create more depth to the scenery before it's complete. Hopefully, in the process, I wouldn't destroy it.
I love collecting their leaves, their seeds, the conks that I sometimes find on their trunks on my woodland walks and of course taking their photos.

π€ SLEEP WALK π€
Does Music inspire you? It does for me. I have always loved the instrumental piece by Santo & Johnny, "SLEEP WALK",one of my favourites.
I love many things like cats and dogs , music, art and stories and much more.
I once again was inspired by a song or should I say by an instrumental piece to create art and inspired by a place I once used to call home a very long time ago.
There really does exist a place called Wychwood across the Ottawa river on the Quebec side at Aylmer, Quebec. And so, I painted "SLEEP WALK".
SLEEP WALK
It snowed all day. It was a very deep and frosty snow. All of Wychwood was under a twinkling blanket of snow; a purrrfect night to tuck in early to bed for a good night's sleep but Genova , the witch couldn't sleep.
She was in an old cottage in the woods , with candlelight reflected in the large parlour room window; by her side, her 3 ghosts ; Ghost, Spooks and Boo. The view of the front lawn was an enchanting site, all sparkling and glittery, just like a Christmas postcard only it was just October.
Oh, my, I'm so tired but I can't sleep! said Genova. Lying on the sofa she reached for the knob on the radio and turned the dial to on, suddenly over the waves there was the song that always sent Genova to a far, far away place.“Sleep Walk”. Genova closed her eyes and drifted to the land of nod. Ghost, a big fluffy white cat, the biggest of the three cats became drowsy to the sound of the still guitar and soon he too was sound asleep. As for the other two cats, Spooks was transfixed to the window, something had caught his attention. It was Boo he was watching, once again sleep walking .......outdoors!
Spooks wondered just how long it would be before Boo would wake from the chilly air and realize he was not inside the house.

Witch & Her Little Bat
Witch & Her Little Bat
Witch & Her Little Bat
I dressed up our Witch for Halloween last October and gave her my vintage Old snuff perfume bottle necklace to keep her secret potion and a beautiful blue Victorian beaded bag to keep her special herbs in but little did know I would soon be giving her a little black kitten , a real oneπ±Just a wee bit of a touch up obscuring the messing background since it was a spur of the moment photo; we were so excited and afraid of hurting him we took a real quick pic without any setup. Looks better now, I think.

" AND, THE COLD, CRYSTAL MOON LOOKED DOWN "
A PERIGEE ~ SYZYGY MOON or SUPERMOON
I failed terribly in capturing the "undeniably beautiful" supermoon tonight, all thou, I was left with three interesting photographs for souvenirs of the special event.
"The difference between a fine oil painting and a mechanical thing like a photograph is simply this: a photograph shows only the reality; a painting shows not only the reality but the dream behind it--. It's our dreams that keep us going. That separate us from the beasts." HARVEY
Maybe so, but this photograph gives me the illusion of a fine oil painting with a dream behind it.

p.s. The supermoon returns tomorrow so I get another shot, literally, at a better picture : )

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, Mysterious and spooky, They’re all together ooky, The Pumpkin Family
What do you ………..see?
From left to right…..Pugsley, Wednesday and Pyewacket
Casper and Morticia
They’re creepy and they’re kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They’re all together ooky,
The Pumpkin Family.
The Addams grew' em in their garden,
With seeds from old man Varden,
Thou nutty they got pardon,
The Pumpkin Family.
Their patch is a museum
Where people come to see ‘em
They really are a scream
The Pumpkin Family.
(Neat)
(Sweet)
(Petite) …...( yoo-neek)
So get a witches shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We’re gonna pay a call on
The Pumpkin Family.
Lyrics by Vic Mizzy……sorry Vic, just changed up a few words/ stanzas to fit this Bunch ; )
Neat, Sweet, Petite…..Yoo -Neek ~^!^~
Lurch, Gomez, Morticia, Thing, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and cousin It……….. Oh , so very Unique!
Recently my husband participated in a Insights Discovery Course his company gave for their employees in attaining a better understanding of each of their own unique personalities as well as that of their fellow colleagues; hence establishing a better pro-active alliance in the work place rather then creating negative adversaries through lack of correctly identifying one's character.
The Insights System was built around the model of personality first identified by the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung and since this discovery his work has been carried on to the present day by researchers in better understanding the personality of human behaviour.
Once each individual's responses to the Insights Preference Evaluator were completed in the IDC course they were left with a clearer picture "of self understanding in both strengths and weaknesses which enabled the participating individuals to develop effective strategies for interaction, helping them better respond to the demands of their environment".
Surprisingly my husband's evaluation was spot on , both with his good and bad points given ; the exercise proved to be of great value to him and his work colleagues. Wouldn't it be lovely if schools , if not already doing so, give this exercise at an early school level, say grade 5, that's if they would also abide by the evaluation results of each person ,which undeniably always proves to be of a difficult challenge but none the less ,without doubt some good would come of it if implemented; maybe there be less bullying , better teacher pupil evaluations and more camaraderie amongst the student body….a little wishful thinking I suppose on my part.
Anyway, after reading hubby's profile and the Blue person he personifies I wondered what colour person I am or the colours my kids are partial to : ) …..(Will need to address that later in another post : )
And from there I continued to ponder on all the exotic eccentricities found in human or creature in Nature and through personal exploration deducted that most of us at one point in time , if not always, have our own little innocent bit of quirkiness and kookiness that make us the Yoo-Neek beings that we are and that's of course me included. Even the Addams family had their Neat, Sweet, Petite and very Yoo-Neek characters in their family.
And The Pumpkin Patch Family that grew in their garden, well lets just say they are a Very Special Bunch : )
Inspired by Nature both Human and Creature.
Inspired by a Kooky show I grew up watching as a little girl in the sixties " The Addams Family" …..and totally over the moon in love with composer writer Vic Mizzy's unforgettable musical scores and lyrics ie. (The Ghost and Mr. Chicken , The Spirit is Willing and The Addams Family to name a few of his very, without question unique pieces of work.
This Witch is In ….Content to be in her Cozy Home…...
Snug as a Little Pumpkin in the Middle of Ancient Volumes, reading her favourite Haunted Tales…...
You just never know what might fancy her next …..this Whimsical Kooky Old Witch named Annabelle
These Creepy, Kooky, Mysterious and Spooky and Cute Whimsical Fairytale Pumpkins will be available on Etsy very soon……
P.S. The eyes, their windows to their souls…personality descriptions to follow ; )
P.S. The eyes, their windows to their souls…personality descriptions to follow ; )
……. And I thought a gathering of a Creepy, Kooky, Mysterious and Spooky all together Ooky Bunch of Pumpkins more than suffices my appetite for a little quirkiness and kookiness for me this Halloween ~^..^~
