Our Lucky Charm πŸ€’πŸ€§πŸ˜· Our Black Cat Can Charm All ill Away

Our Lucky Charm πŸ€’πŸ€§πŸ˜·

Here is an old Welsh Verse about Black Cats I think is cute

"A black cat, I’ve heard it said,
Can charm all ill away,
And keep the house wherein she dwells
From fever’s deadly sway."

PATCHES (WHITE FEMALE) AND LUTHER
BROTHER AND SISTER RESCUE KITTENS

Remember the 2 little kittens, Patches and Luther who dropped in for something to eat on November 17th / 2019 and then disappeared? Well, early this morning around 1:30 a.m. I was woken up hearing my daughter calling out to my husband in the basement to pull the string and when I looked out the window I saw the door of the cat house drop down and the mom bolting out leaving the 2 kittens inside the house, my daughter telling my husband they successfully caught the two kittens; exactly a month since I had contacted "Furry Tales Rescue" in Smith Falls and Barn Buddies to take in the family.

BULLITT

Last week we caught another kitten, a black one who we named "Bullitt" early in the morning before bringing him to "Spencerville TNR". We never really knew their sex but we were lucky every time to name them accordingly, of course, once they go to their forever home that might change which is ok. I just hate not having a name to call them while they are here with us.
Anyway, this business of rescuing cats and kittens has been going on for some time now, over two years. We adopted two little ones, Bat and Maggie and got help with Bat from "Adopt A Cat Rescue" in North Gower. We brought in over ten cats and kittens to the Humane Society but now we thought we try placing them in a no-kill rescue.

This Christmas think of making a little Christmas gift to one of these rescues, it is very much needed. The cost to maintain such establishments runs in the thousands every month.πŸŽ„

Thank you, Cindy, of Spencerville TNR and Donna, of Furry Cat Rescue, Smith Falls), for helping us out. As far as we know we have the mom and dad left to catch and find them a good home. Merry Christmas and so happy we came together to save the three little kittens from the cold.πŸŽ„πŸ±πŸ±πŸ± πŸŽ„

Christmas Teddy Bears πŸŽ„πŸ§ΈπŸ§ΈπŸ§ΈπŸŽ„

 Christmas Teddy Bears   πŸŽ„πŸ§ΈπŸ§ΈπŸ§ΈπŸŽ„

So, have you ever wondered how the Teddy Bear got its name? I always wondered if Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States had anything to do with the toy bear's name and of course, it turns out he did. I asked my husband and of course, he knew the story but I never knew. Here is the link to

A Short Story — “How The Teddy Bear Got Its Name”

A beautiful little story to read to a little one at Christmas time.

Who doesn't love a cute little Teddy Bear to sit somewhere in the house at Christmas time, if not all year through?

These two lovable Bearington Teddy Bears I bought today at Sally Ann in Kemptville and now join my little Angel Teddy Bear collection.

WITCHES' BROOM TREE WIP 🧹 OIL PAINTING

I love the trees!

I love collecting their leaves, their seeds, the conks that I sometimes find on their trunks on my woodland walks and of course taking their photos.

I also love the illustrations and paintings of trees, particularly the ones done by 19th - century British artists.

The Witch Broom Tree in this painting was inspired by Emily Carr's gorgeous trees of British Columbia.

"In 1818 Constable exhibited a beautiful drawing of elm trees at the Royal Academy. It failed to sell and so it was still in Constable’s possession two decades later, when he added a note on the back to the effect that “This noble Elm … was blown down April 1835.” It was a portrait, in other words, of a particular tree, one whose fortunes he continued to follow, and whose eventual loss he lamented long after he’d moved away from the area." ~ Professor Christiana Payne

And like John Constable, I adore painting them. When I came upon a tree down the road from where I live that looked quite peculiar I took a few photos of the tree for future reference which would come in handy when I went to paint it. At the time I didn't know why the tree was afflicted with such unusual, odd-looking, broom-like distortions but after looking it up online I discovered it was disease trees get and not from witches : )

I suppose the namesake is because it reminds one of a spooky broom belonging to a witch. So I decided to paint the Witch Broom Tree in oil but it was my first time painting entirely in oil and I didn't realize just how long it takes for the painting to dry and cure. This painting is still very wet.

I added a couple of spiders and webs to the tree and eventually would like to add a black cat and create more depth to the scenery before it's complete. Hopefully, in the process, I wouldn't destroy it.
