Go to Sleep, Darlings...
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields
It covers them snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, Go to Sleep, Darlings, till the summer comes again.” Lewis Carroll
"IF YOU HAVE A GARDEN AND A LIBRARY, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED "

Well, maybe……
Of all my impassioned desires , old vintage books are on the very top of my list whenever I frequent church/yard/estate sales.
Last week i posted this little crystal book I created in a water/salt solution. With the sun in hiding all of this week I haven't had the opportunity to take some good shots of the book in all of it's glittery splendour, hopefully this weekend might be more co-operative.
**********
It's been a very busy week and unfortunately didn't have much time for painting and working on my mixed media.
With the coming of Spring it usually intoxicates me with flowers and antiques and no matter the weather I am out and about hunting down treasures of old…heirloom varieties for both garden and art.
During the course of my travels over the last weekend I met a fella at a yard sale who informed me of an Estate sale that was on in Oxford Station. It was a three day sale and I only got wind of it that Saturday afternoon but feeling tried I decided to go later the following day on Sunday; to my surprise everything that was left in the household contents was half price and a gorgeous double iron pedestal Victorian garden table still remained. Since I really didn't have the room for it , I passed the deal unto my friend.
Anyway, I did get my fair share of treasures , including today at another Estate sale run by the same company "MaryFrancis Estates ". Thanks to Jim from "The Cottage", I think I have a great venue to hunt for the old relics, after all , I am working on making a garden and a library.

THE WOODS AND FIELDS MUST MELT INTO YOUR MIND,
DISSOLVED BY YOUR LOVE FOR THEM."

Finally back, but behind on supper , that's okay, just needs warming and M is taking care of the ( CORNISH PASTIES I made yesterday ; )
I'm so sorry for the delay in posting the art work but it's been a busy hospital week for me…three times in. Okay, enough of that and to something very special or more accurately to more special things O,O
Once again, so sorry for the construction zone. Bare with me as I add notes to the pics I just uploaded.
This week I have three art works to share with you , two of mine and one of my daughter's, she is my guest artist this week : ) ......and whenever she decides to create art i will happily show case it.

P.S. WHEN EVER I HEAR THIS MUSICAL PIECE I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK OF THE SCENE IN " SOME LIKE IT HOT " WHERE JACK LEMMON ( DAPHNE) IS DANCING WITH JOE E. BROWN ( OSGOOD FIELDING THE III ) SUCH A BELLY LAUGH....LOVE THE CLASSICS!!!
Not too long ago, I came across something quite magical, something that encompassed some of my big loves; books, specifically very old books, crystals and stars and of course our natural world.
When I discovered this art form , I just had to give it a go and began the experiment. …last Tuesday.
Talk about wishing I listened more attentively to my high school chemistry teacher.
Anyway, I had done something similar before about some ten years ago so I did have an inkly of an idea how to approach the work and of course hubby gave me the ultimate info I needed to make it work out….Thanks dear, much appreciated .
Well , it worked and I am still working on the ratio of water/crystals/& time.
I have to say this precious little book is turning into one of my very favourite art works I've done to date aside from painting. But this in a way is painting with water , colour and salt .
Once I am happy with the size of crystal formations , my next step will be to research on how to harness this beauty for a duration of time besides locking it into a photograph.
As you can see I am in need of some guidance in taking an exquisite photograph ~ a true likeness of this beauty : )
Next week I will have a summery of my experiment.
EVERY TIME I'M PLEASANTLY SURPRISED BY TWINKLING STARS
ANOTHER TWINKLING STAR , THIS TIME INSIDE THE TURNED PAGE ON THE RIGHT.
I REALLY LIKE HOW THE PAGES TURNED OUT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOOK, A CARAMEL COLOUR. NOTICE THE CANADIAN PENNIES ~ ENLARGE THE IMAGE TO SEE WHAT M WROTE ON THEM.
I THINK SHE IS MAKING THEM INTO BOOK MARKS AND PENDANTS ,THEY WILL SOON BE POSTED ON MY ETSY SHOP SITE
THE FOLDS OF THE PAGES WERE NOT AS DIFFICULT TO CREATE AS I FIRST THOUGHT, AFTER ALL IT IS SUBMERSED IN WATER.
OH , HOW I LOVE THEE.......
lOVE IN THE EARTH AND
IN THE WOODS AND FIELDS... NATURE
FOLLOWS (ME) EVERYWHERE

AND THEN M SURPRISED ME WITH ONE OF HER NEW ART CREATIONS....PENNIES FOR YOUR THOUGHTS......HEAVILY INSPIRED BY " DOCTOR WHO "
M HAS TURNED THESE CANADIAN COPPER PENNIES INTO WHIMSICAL LITTLE KEEPERS OF ONE'S INNER THOUGHTS.
SHE METAL PUNCHES THE WORD INTO THE COPPER PENNY, AND THEN PAINTS THE WORDS WITH SHARPIE PERMANENT MARKER.
THEY ARE JUST SO DARN CUTE, FUN AND LUCKY PIECES OF TIME. I'LL HAVE TO THINK OF ONE SHE CAN DO FOR ME O,O
BOOK MARKS AND PENDENTS FOR STARTERS
A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS, OR TWO OR THREE ; )
A PENNY SAVED ULTIMATELY MAKES A GOOD KEEPER OF THOUGHTS

BLUE BIRDS MIXED MEDIA
BLUE BIRDS MIXED MEDIA PIECE I'M PRESENTLY WORKING ON.
I FOUND THIS SKETCH AT A NEARBY THRIFT STORE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD WORK PERFECTLY IN DOING A MIXED MEDIA PIECE WORKING FROM TRACY LYN HUSKAMP'S BOOK "NATURE INSPIRED". I PAINTED THE BIRDS A LIGHT BLUE , SOME OF THE LEAVES AND ADDED OLD WEDDING LACE , MAYBE A LITTLE BACKWARDS IN THE STEPS BUT IT ISN'T REALLY POSING ANY PROBLEMS AS YET : )
HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE POST, PLEASE DO POP BY THE OTHER ARTISTS PARTICIPATING IN THIS WEEK'S PAINT PARTY FRIDAY
Stormy Sensuous Seductive Hypnotic Clouds, a picture worth an intense dream or painting ? Took this photo last year during stormy weather.
Note : At the end of this post I've embedded a Youtube Video of a classic tango of 1926 by Nat Shilkret. David Lynch used this musical piece in his Dior ad " Lady Blue Shanghai " starring Marion Cotillard. Please do give it a listen while you read this post, it somehow transports you to another time and place, quite romantic. It is one of my favourite tangos and if you like the oldies like I do, I'm sure this tango will become one of your favourites as well O,O
"Painting is a metaphor for control. Every choice is mine...The canvas, the colour. As a child, I had neither a sense of the world nor my place in it, but art taught me that one's vision can be achieved with SHEER FORCE OF WILL. The same is true of life, provided one refuses to let anything stand in one's way." Klaus Michaelson ~ "VAMPIRE DIARIES"
Well, I can safely say I've been quite loyal to the quote, about 50% of the time that is; occasionally straying away from my painting whenever my husband and son return home from their work on their 2 week leave. Usually we like to try to fit in a little getaway while he's in town as well as spending time together as a family so needless to say time flies by quickly and before you know it it's time for the boys to head back to work.
So, since I've been away from home and canvas, I will share with Paint Party Friday a past digital graphic design I did in 2010.
"Dreams are Whispers of the Soul".
Haiku ?
Sweet Hypnotic Sleep:
Dreams are whispers of the soul
who together sleep
Annabelle
Dreams are the windows to other worlds , delicious, mysterious, intoxicating, hypnotic, mesmerizing, intriquing worlds or worlds you rather hoped you never had entered.
Even they Dream...and if caught in a bad dream they have each other for a comforter.
A good idea to have one of these near your bed.
And the Dreams of the Day are the White Lion Wishes you Blew on the Wind
And I leave you now to Dream a little Dream with this beautiful vintage classic tango
A lovely collection of whimsical art to add to your month of May Spring Shopping List O,O....Enjoy : )Oh, and don't forget to pay them a visit to their shop.Just click on the Treasury to take you there O,O
"You are entering the mysterious fascinating world of dreams, where the rules of reality do not apply."
~ Dream Moods.com
Do you Dream with eyes wide open or only in your darkest sleep?
Do you see the Dreams you Dream in Vivid Technicolor , Black and White or only in the faint wisps of smoky ghosts that remain behind, haunting your every daylight hour?
Do you love the curious and mysterious realms that are secretly tucked within the crevices of our earthly landscapes or in the microscopic tunnels of our strange and beautiful minds; they might even be the more intriguing of the two for each brain describes the embodiment of flesh and blood that belongs only to you and no other human being.
I dreamt up these two digital graphic designs some time ago, basically pondering on what Dreams really mean.
I am a dreamer and it has never been a secret I kept to myself, for to me "a dreamer is one who can find his way by moonlight and see the dawn before the rest of the world."
I have difficulty in remembering my dreams of the night and therefore I sapor in my daylight dreamy hours, these dreams I have with eyes wide open enlighten me with endless magical realms.
So, I thought for this week ,since I've been enjoying some quality family time ( my husband and son just returned back from their jobs out west) and not really doing much for painting or working on my show case for Denise's Etsy Shops promotions( will definitely be getting to it this weekend) that I would share some of my inspirations, and sketches for possible paintings.
I'll have to pay them another visit and explore their site, looks interesting; you might like it as well.
Dream Sketches of moon, stars, lichen, forget -me -nots, dandelions, bubbles and butterfly
The paper I sketched on was already sparkled ( a little treasure I picked up at a church sale) , must try to find more of it.
And this little painting with an angel and gargoyles I discovered at a thrift store in Aylmer Quebec. It doesn't have the artist signature , wish it did. Anyway, it's beautiful and it inspires me.
And finally a little reminder of lost treasures. This diminutive beautiful pussy willow tree near my home was just right for picking a few fuzzy branches and maybe even take the one with the nest. My daughter said that I was possibly stealing a tiny bird's home but it didn't matter because even before I could reach the branch I fell into waist deep water…lol! Anyway, long story short, I returned a week later to see if the ditch had dried up and wouldn't you know it….. the tree was gone, nest and all, it was bulldozed over….progress?????
When reading the comments on Youtube some viewers felt that Leonard Cohen in this picture looked a bit like Al Pacino , Dustin Hoffman and Adam Sandler. I suppose he does remind me of Al and the other two but to me he is the one and only Leonard Cohen, the poet of our time. O,O Enjoy !
