Etsy is redesigning shops and changes will be visible on April 5th.
Also, their banner sizes have increased, now they are minimal 1200 x 300 pixels but 3360 x 840 pixels is for the cover photo large size banner I believe.
Love the larger size banner! Thanks, Etsy!!!

A Record Breaking Snow Storm and Baking Home Made Bread

A Golden Crusty Bread

Well, there is always a first time for everything and this is my first time at baking bread aside from one baked in a bread machine, but that doesn't count : ) On Tuesday we got our share of a Winter's Storm, a record 51.2 cm of snow and although I still had to venture out a couple of times during the day on the treacherous roads, I wasn't going to go further than I had to, even to buy my crusty loaf of bread for supper.

I suppose it was the desire and craving for bread that somehow I fell onto some bread recipes while playing on Pinterest and I am so glad I did!
This Crusty Bread recipe originates from Hell's Kitchen in New York City. Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery 533 West 47th Street in Manhatten has a simple bread making technique that results in a beautiful little golden loaf of crusty bread. The recipe and method are so simple, there wasn't much to think about except to gather the four ingredients into a bowl, bring out the special pot and wait.

I baked the bread in a 450 oven for the required time and I also added a homemade mixture of Herbes De Provence (McCormick ) & Sea Salt to the outside of the loaf before baking.

A simple Bread Recipe that anyone can bake and have amazing results. Jim 's recipe is a keeper and everyone should have it!

Here are some of the other sites that have the recipe:

Enjoy the little work : ) and have patience! Now back to art  : )

MICETTO HILL

So here is the landscape painting where Micetto was sitting on the hill and looking out to the moon and starry sky dreaming in ~ON THE EDGE OF A DREAM

The painting originally had a mouse on the hill but with the magic of Photoshop I removed him and added Micetto (Elliot our big fat house cat) instead. I also lit up the stars and the quaint cottage down in the valley.
Very happy with this dreamy landscape titled

Oooh and by the way, I thought you might like to know where the pet name for Elliot originates. Pope Leo XII had a kitty cat whose name was Micetto, Italian for kitty cat.

MICETTO HILL is available on SOCIETY6

Dreams are Whispers of the Soul ~ Pastoral Dreams ~ Paint Party Friday Week 9, Year 3

Stormy Sensuous Seductive Hypnotic Clouds, a picture worth an intense dream or painting ? Took this photo last year during stormy weather.

Note : At the end of this post I've embedded a Youtube Video of a classic tango of 1926 by Nat  Shilkret. David Lynch used this musical piece in his Dior ad " Lady Blue Shanghai " starring Marion Cotillard. Please do give it a listen while you read this post, it somehow transports you to another time and place, quite romantic. It is one of my favourite tangos and if you like the oldies like I do, I'm sure this tango will become one of your favourites as well O,O

"Painting is a metaphor for control. Every choice is mine...The canvas, the colour. As a child, I had neither a sense of the world nor my place in it, but art taught me that one's vision can be achieved with SHEER FORCE OF WILL. The same is true of life, provided one refuses to let anything stand in one's way." Klaus Michaelson ~ "VAMPIRE DIARIES"

Well, I can safely say I've been quite loyal to the quote, about 50% of the time that is; occasionally straying away from my painting whenever my husband and son return home from their work on their 2 week leave. Usually we like to try to fit in a little getaway while he's in town as well as spending time together as a family so needless to say time flies by quickly and before you know it it's time for the boys to head back to work.
So, since I've been away from home and canvas, I will share with Paint Party Friday a past digital graphic design I did in 2010.

"Dreams are Whispers of the Soul".

Sweet Hypnotic Sleep:
Dreams are whispers of the soul
who together sleep

Dreams are the windows to other worlds , delicious, mysterious, intoxicating, hypnotic, mesmerizing, intriquing worlds or worlds you rather hoped you never had entered.

Even they Dream...and if caught in a bad dream they have each other for a comforter.

A good idea to have one of these near your bed.

And the Dreams of the Day are the White Lion Wishes you Blew on the Wind

And I leave you now to Dream a little Dream with this beautiful vintage classic tango

PASTORAL DREAMS ~ WHAT DO YOU DREAM OF?

"You are entering the mysterious fascinating world of dreams, where the rules of reality do not apply."

~ Dream Moods.com

Do you Dream with eyes wide open or only in your darkest sleep?
Do you see the Dreams you Dream in Vivid Technicolor , Black and White or only in the faint wisps of smoky ghosts that remain behind, haunting your every daylight hour?

Do you love the curious and mysterious realms that are secretly tucked within the crevices of our earthly landscapes or in the microscopic tunnels of our strange and beautiful minds; they might even be the more intriguing of the two for each brain describes the embodiment of flesh and blood that belongs only to you and no other human being.

I dreamt up these two digital graphic designs some time ago, basically pondering on what Dreams really mean.

I am a dreamer and it has never been a secret I kept to myself, for to me "a dreamer is one who can find his way by moonlight and see the dawn before the rest of the world."
I have difficulty in remembering my dreams of the night and therefore I sapor in my daylight dreamy hours, these dreams I have with eyes wide open enlighten me with endless magical realms.
So, I thought for this week ,since I've been enjoying some quality family time ( my husband and son just returned back from their jobs out west) and  not really doing much for painting or working on my show case for Denise's Etsy Shops promotions( will definitely be getting to it this weekend)  that I would share some of my inspirations, and sketches for possible paintings.

Oh, and the quote you see at the top of this post is from a site called  http://www.dreammoods.com/ .
I'll have to pay them another visit and explore their site, looks interesting; you might like it as well.

Dream Sketches of moon, stars, lichen, forget -me -nots, dandelions, bubbles and butterfly

The paper I sketched on was already sparkled ( a little treasure I picked up at a church sale) , must try to find more of it.

And this little painting with an angel and gargoyles I discovered at a thrift store in Aylmer Quebec. It doesn't have the artist signature , wish it did. Anyway, it's beautiful and it inspires me.

And finally a little reminder of lost treasures. This diminutive beautiful pussy willow tree near my home was just right for picking a few fuzzy branches and maybe even take the one with the nest. My daughter said that I was possibly stealing a tiny bird's home  but it didn't matter because even before I could reach the branch I fell into waist deep water…lol! Anyway, long story short, I returned a week later to see if the ditch had dried up and wouldn't you know it….. the tree was gone, nest and all, it was bulldozed over….progress?????

At least I have this pic to remember it by : )

Leaving you with a very lovely song for today….HAPPY Paint Party Friday

When reading the comments on Youtube some viewers felt that Leonard Cohen in this picture looked a bit like Al Pacino , Dustin Hoffman and Adam Sandler. I suppose he does remind me of Al and the  other two but to me he is the one and only Leonard Cohen, the poet of our time. O,O Enjoy !
