MICETTO HILL ~ MICETTO WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?

Elliott, ‘Our Big Fat House Cat’ was a garage sale treasure we found many years ago.

It was an early Saturday morning in the spring of 2001 when my daughter Emma and I decided to go garage sailing; little did we know we would be returning back home with another pet in tow.

 The long, thin kitten with white and grey patches was free to a good home and came with an official birth certificate and shots.

He was no ordinary cat, then again no cat is ordinary but he was unquestionably extraordinary.

Elliott became Emma’s constant companion from the minute she picked him out of the cage at the old farmhouse yard sale in town. 

M and Elliott spent hours on end in her bedroom playing dress up, she was the designer and he the model.

When there were no more designs to test out M would take Elly to the park and go down the spiral slide with Elly on her lap and then the swing would be next.  It was like watching a mother and her baby having a great day at the playgrounds.

Never did he once escape her not that he lacked the ingenuity to do so but because he chose to stay and was happy and content.

His endowment of human characteristics at times made me wonder if he had lived as a human in one of his previous lives. In any case he put a spell on us.

In the days and months after his passing my daughter and I were inspired to emulate Elly in our artwork. Elliott took on many disguises, once again a model he appeared in angel cartoon form to jovial fat Ellycats. Artwork by M.

Then in early January of this year I decided I wanted to draw Elly again only this time change his color to black and white, his patches akin more to that of a cow, lo and behold, Micetto appeared.

Yes, as you recall I did say earlier that Elly was a long thin kitten but Elliott transformed into this big lovable ball of fur that could never be more than a few feet away from you at any given time. He became Our Big Fat House Cat because the time came where Elly was too big to carry to the park and too fat to be a model but he still played hide and seek at home and was quick on his feet, amazing for a cat his size.

He was extraordinary in every sense of the word. A dramatist in life and in death; he left his mark in our hearts and keeps writing us stories.

Our companion was the writer all along ~^..^~ and even now .

GUARDIAN OF THE GRAVEYARD ~ AN OLD FRIEND

Someone was watching me and it wasn't a human at least I don't think he was. He appeared to me one day while I was shopping in the area and totally took me by surprise. I had a strange feeling of being watched by someone close by but no one was around except the graveyard, the trees and me. And then when I looked up into the tree that was towering behind me he was looking down. Although at first he spooked me I now find he is an old friend whose company I welcome when I visit the vacant grounds. He is such an old soul at heart : ) and does quiet a fine job guarding the old graveyard.

MICETTO HILL

So here is the landscape painting where Micetto was sitting on the hill and looking out to the moon and starry sky dreaming in ~ON THE EDGE OF A DREAM

The painting originally had a mouse on the hill but with the magic of Photoshop I removed him and added Micetto (Elliot our big fat house cat) instead. I also lit up the stars and the quaint cottage down in the valley.

Oooh and by the way, I thought you might like to know where the pet name for Elliot originates. Pope Leo XII had a kitty cat whose name was Micetto, Italian for kitty cat.

ON THE EDGE OF A DREAM

 Our big fat house cat Elliot was the model for this adorable fat cat. Both the moon and the cat were taken from two of my previous paintings and incorporated into a digital design. I think Ellie looks even cuter than before in his cow-like patches.

So I don't have to dream alone ……

While I was designing this graphic illustration of a blue moon and ghost cat in a tuxedo I never thought past the art print until I posted it up on Society6. Then when my daughter was looking at the Society6 Shop page she remarked how she thought ‘Blue Moon’ would make a PUURRFECT PILLOW.....A PUURRFECT DREAM PILLOW!

Glad I took her advice, love it’s whimsical look.

Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone

Blue Moon, you knew just what I was there for......

 "In Pussy Cat Heaven I thought my chances be better in finding true love."

Poor Pussy Cat all dressed in a fine black tuxedo but has no date.

Two very familiar faces; Dirt the Ghost Cat and Blue Mooooooon are originally from an early painting I did titled ' A Midnight Chat'. Another cat, our big fat house cat Elliott, eventually replaced Dirt.

So I thought I would give Dirt and Blue Mooooooon  a new place to haunt. 

Always loved the song ' Blue Mooooooon' and so here is another 'Blue Mooooooon' in a digital /painting.
